“Cups” also known as “Cups (Pitch Perfect’s When I’m Gone)” is a song by American actress Anna Kendrick from the film Pitch Perfect.  It is a cover of Lulu and the Lampshades’ song “Cups (You’re Gonna Miss Me)”, a rendition of an old-time folk song “When I’m Gone”  recorded in 1931 by the Carter Family.

Wiki Irish (Gaelic) is spoken as a first language by 94,000 Irish people, as well as being a second language of 1.3 million people in Ireland.

Here’s the Latest on The Cup Song (No Cups!)

I wrote about The Cups Song here  (More Saturday Silliness: The Cup Song and The Singing Cats) and here (Cup Song, Round 2, Cancer-Free)  after my eight-year-old great-niece attempted to teach me the words and actions to the sing. Major FAIL on my part.

Now here’s another version that will touch your heart. Carmen, a young cancer patient, sings her own celebratory version of The Cancer-Free Cup Song with her doctors, Dr. Steele and Dr. Pope.

And here’s another version sponsored by the Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation:

We celebrate with Carmen as she sings, “And I finally beat cancer May 23!”

Congratulations, Carmen, and our best wishes for you in your cancer-free future.

The Last Meow

Yeah, she is cancer free! We couldn’t be happier!

My eight-year-old great-niece tried to teach me “The Cup Song” rhythm pattern and song. Alas, it is a bit tricky for this AARP card holder. This group in the video does it as an awesome foursome. Outstanding.

Sam, Mee, Tina, and Alex of Perfect Pitch performing “Cups”

Here’s the orignal version sung by Anna Kendrick in the Pitch Perfect film soundtrack, 2012. Beca (Anna Kendrick) freshman at Barden University, auditions for The Bellas, an all-girls a cappela singing group in the movie, “Pitch Perfect.”

Now look at how the kids do it.

Jennifer, Nadia, and Cameron sing “Some Nights” using the cup song rhythm.

Now, here’ a cup song tutorial. Have fun. Maybe you can learn to be as good as these kids. Then you can impress your own children and grandchildren.

The Last MeowCAt yawn

Hey, we can sing, too. Check this out. “Singing Cats” made for Danish TV by Joaquim Nielson. Enjoy.

Okay, now I’m exhausted.  Yawn. Time for a nap.

Meow for now. =<^,^>=
