Skywatch: Pineapple Fountain

I came across this pineapple fountain in a small square on First Street in the Riverside District of Fort Myers, Florida. I looked high and low for an identification plaque but couldn’t find one. Even googling it produced no results, although I did find a gorgeous pineapple fountain in Charleston, South Carolina. I’ll visit that fountain in April. I’ll check with the Chamber of Commerce and the Fort Myers’ Visitor’s Center next for some info on this First Street fountain. There must be a story behind it, other than representing early pineapple plantations in the area.
